How we handle information

The short version

• Your information is yours. Everything you put in comes back out whenever you want it, in full, for nothing.
• The people organisations help stay private. Their details never leave the organisation supporting them. That is how the system is built, not something we promise in a policy.
• Nothing is sold or shared. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and nothing you look at is sold, shared or kept against you.
• Nothing trains AI. Nothing you put into Community Switchboard is used to train anybody's AI.

If you browse without an account

Nothing that identifies you. You can look up organisations, events, jobs and knowledge without an account and without cost, and nothing you look at is recorded against you as a person.

Anonymous, consent-gated performance analytics run only after you accept analytics cookies — until you do, no analytics load at all. The Cookie Policy lists exactly what is set and when.

If you create an account

Your email address, your name, and a password we store only in scrambled (hashed) form — we could not read it back if we wanted to. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google instead, and we never see your Google password.

We use your email to sign you in, to verify your account, and to send you the messages the service needs to work — like event updates you have asked for or replies to a job application. Marketing email is separate, optional, and every one carries an unsubscribe link that works.

If you run an organisation here

Your organisation profile, sites, events, job listings and knowledge articles are collected to be shown — that is the point of them. They are public by design, and you control what goes up and what comes down.

Addresses you add (for your organisation or your events) are turned into map positions using a geocoding service — the address is sent to look up its coordinates, and nothing else goes with it.

If you take donations or payments, Stripe handles the cards. Card details go to Stripe and never touch our servers; we hold the record that a payment happened, not the numbers that made it.

If you apply for a job or attend an event

Your application or RSVP is shared with the organisation running that job or event — that is what it is for — and with nobody else. What they hold about the people they support is theirs, not ours: it never leaves that organisation, and anything Community Switchboard ever says about the sector as a whole is counted, never traceable to a person.

Everything is hosted on Amazon Web Services in the EU (Ireland) region, encrypted on the way in and out. The suppliers that touch any of your information are AWS (hosting, file storage and email delivery), Stripe (payments), Google (only if you choose to sign in with it), and the geocoding service (addresses only). We are not tied to any one supplier for any part of this.

We keep your information while your account is active. Ask us to remove it and we will; ask us for a copy and you get everything you have put in, in full, for nothing, with no exit fee. Either way, the address is switchboard@communitystack.io.

• Sell your personal information, or anyone else's.
• Share it with advertisers, or run advertising against it.
• Move details of the people organisations support outside the organisation supporting them.
• Publish anything about the sector that can be traced back to a person.
• Use anything you put in to train AI — ours or anybody else's.
• Charge you, or make you fill in a form, to take your own information away.
